F-35 fighter jet third-generation pilot helmet
A major "innovation" in the design of the US F-35 Lightning fighter jet is the complete elimination of the head up display in the cockpit and the use of helmet mounted displays to provide critical information to pilots. The helmet is named "Genesis III" or HMDS Gen 3 and is worth $400000. Because it is a high-tech "Omnidirectional Fighter Helmet System" (HMDS) that makes the aircraft transparent to the pilot, with no blind spots in its field of view. The helmet is equipped with six sets of cameras on the outside, which can capture and transmit images from various directions, presenting the pilot with a 360 degree visual composite space around them.
